Alastair is a Technical Director at Acclimatise with over 20 years' experience as an earth scientist, and international environmental and climate change consultant. He is an award-winning expert in assessing the current and future risks to societies and ecosystems from industrial developments, climate change and other natural hazards. Alastair is a trusted advisor to many private and public organisations.
Since starting with Acclimatise in January 2010, Alastair has led the rebranding and ongoing diversification of the company into new climate service areas through the Acclimatise Interactive and Network bands, our software development and media/communications divisions respectively.
From 2010 – 2012, Alastair was the Business, Industry and Services sector lead author for the UK Government's first national Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA), which was laid before Parliament in 2012. The findings of this work provide an important evidence base for the UK’s National Adaptation Plan. He has continued with this project and is currently co-author of the second CCRA (2012 – 2017).
Alastair is currently co-Principal Investigator with the University of Arizona for a US Department of Defense project looking at climate risks to military installations in the South West USA. He is also a contributor and member of the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Oxford, University of Bath and Imperial College, London.
